2023 Sono Montenidoli, Canaiuolo Rosato, San Gimignano, Italy

100% Canaiolo

Elisabetta Fagiuoli's journey with Sono Montenidoli in San Gimignano, Italy, is truly remarkable and spans over five decades of dedication to winemaking and her profound respect for the terroir of San Gimignano. Acquiring the estate in 1965, she embarked on a mission to revive its vineyards and olive groves, which were in a state of neglect. Despite the challenges, she persevered, nurturing the existing old vines and gradually restoring the property to its former splendor. Her inaugural vintage in 1971 marked the beginning of a legacy that continues to flourish. Her 2023 rosato opens with inviting aromas of raspberries and violets, which evolve into delicate notes of orange blossoms and citrus on the palate. It is characterized by its very dry profile, medium+ body, and vibrant acidity, culminating in a long, saline, and mineral-driven finish.

2021 Jurtschitsch, Belle Naturelle Rosé, Kamptal, Austria

Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon

Jurtschitsch is the oldest and one of the most famous wineries in Austria's Kamptal region. Alwin and Stefanie Jurtschitsch took over the winery in 2006. They transformed it into a haven of biodiversity—integrating fruit trees and wildflowers among their vines to enhance the ecosystem and grape quality. Stefanie, overseeing winemaking, focuses on natural processes, using indigenous yeasts and minimal cellar interventions. This approach is evident in their 'Belle Naturelle' rosé, crafted from a blend of directly pressed Zweigelt and Pinot Noir, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon that undergoes maceration on its skins for color extraction. The 2021 Belle Naturelle Rosé exemplifies a commitment to organic agriculture and meticulous winemaking practices. The result is a rosé characterized by vivid, playful notes of raspberry and cranberry, delivering a clean and fresh taste experience. Light-bodied and energetic, it reflects the purity of fruit and the terroir of Kamptal. Bottled without fining or filtration, this wine preserves its natural vibrancy and essence, offering a delightful expression of the Jurtschitsch winery's dedication to quality and sustainability.

2023 Domaine de L'Olivette, Rosé, Bandol, France

40% Mourvedre, 30% Grenache, 30% Cinsault

Domaine de l'Olivette, a cherished estate nestled in the heart of the Bandol region of Provence, has been lovingly tended by the Dumoutier family for over two centuries. Bandol, renowned for its Mediterranean climate, is celebrated globally as one of the premier regions for rosé. The 2023 vintage of Domaine de l'Olivette's rosé is a standout in our Summer 2024 rosé collection. This exquisite wine can be enjoyed immediately or aged for several years to evolve further in the bottle. It offers a captivating array of ripe red fruit flavors, including strawberry, raspberry, and watermelon, with hints of ripe mango and peach. The rosé is beautifully complemented by fresh wild herbs, presenting a medium-plus body and vibrant acidity contributing to its delightful freshness. The finish is long, complex, and lush, showcasing a well-balanced and lingering character. It truly is a remarkable and beautiful rosé.

2023 Steininger, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rosé, Kamptal, Austria

100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Karl and Brigitta Steininger began their journey into winemaking in 1989 after Karl inherited the farm from his parents in 1980. Their focus on high-quality wines and their commitment to showcasing the fruit and character of the grapes are central to their philosophy. While the Steininger family is renowned for their Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, their sparkling wines are particularly celebrated in Austria. However, it’s their Cabernet Sauvignon rosé that makes a striking impression. Karl originally planted Cabernet Sauvignon to create sparkling wines, but the resulting still rosé has proven to be exceptionally distinctive and delicious. The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé offers an aromatic bouquet of ripe red currants, strawberries, and elderberries, complemented by subtle notes of summer herbs and orange peel. The wine is refreshingly brisk with subtle texture and deep, pure flavors that extend through a long, dry, and mouthwatering finish. It is one of the most attractive rosés we’ve encountered this year.

2023 Marco Porello, Rosato, Langhe, Piedmont, Italy

100% Nebbiolo

In the 1930s, Cesare Porello transformed his modest property into a distinguished farm dedicated to producing both wine and peaches. His unwavering commitment to quality has been maintained across three generations, resulting in exceptional wines that reflect meticulous vineyard management and attention to detail. Today, Cesare’s grandson Marco Porello, an accomplished oenologist trained in Bordeaux and Chianti Classico, leads the estate. Marco’s approach seamlessly blends tradition with innovation, enhancing the legacy of his family's winemaking. His 2023 Rosato, crafted from 100% hand-harvested Nebbiolo. The wine is beautifully aromatic and well-balanced. It has a delicate salmon hue with notes of ripe cherries and berries, truffles, rose petals, tarragon, and spice. On the palate it is dry, medium-bodied, very flavorful, and crisp, with a clean finish with a refreshing hint of salinity.

2022 Domaine Saint-Cyr, Rosé La Galoche, Beaujolais, France

100% Gamay

Raphael Saint-Cyr represents the fourth generation of winemakers at the family estate, originally founded by his great-grandfather, Pierre Saint-Cyr. The estate is located at the southern edge of the Beaujolais Cru Chénas. Since taking over winemaking in 2008, Raphael has made substantial changes, including meticulous cellar work and vineyard management, reducing the estate's vines, and converting everything to certified organic and biodynamic farming. This rosé undergoes a unique cold carbonic fermentation process for one week, followed by six months of aging in concrete tanks. The result is a vibrant and juicy wine with expressive aromas of juicy and ripe strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries complemented by a bright minerality and a delicate hint of mushroom. On the palate, it is dry and strikes a delightful balance between fruitiness, earthiness, and balanced structure. It is delicious and joyful as it is easy to drink.
