2019 Felsina, "Rancia", Chianti Classico Riserva, Tuscany, Italy
100% Sangiovese
Fèlsina’s "Rancia" is a towering example of Sangiovese at the Reserva level. It is crafted from the single-vineyard Rancia at a high altitude in Castelnuovo Berardenga and aged 18 months in French oak and 12 months in bottle before release. This Chianti Classico Riserva begins with a striking nose of ripe red cherries, wild raspberries, and dried violets, underscored by cedar, warm spices, and hints of tobacco leaf. The palate is vibrant and layered, revealing fine-grained tannins that are both structured and refined. Waves of juicy red fruit and savory notes of leather, forest floor, and baking spices lead to a savory finish that promises excellent aging potential. Aged, this wine is a true masterpiece of Tuscan winemaking. Ideal with braised lamb, wild mushroom risotto, or Tuscan classics like bistecca alla fiorentina.
