iL Poggio L'Ape Spumante Metodo Classico, Gavi, Italy
100% Cortese
Metodo Classico, the traditional method of sparkling wine production, involves secondary fermentation in the bottle—just like Champagne. In Gavi, Piedmont’s renowned white wine region, Cortese shines as the signature grape, celebrated for its crisp and mineral-driven profile. iL Poggio takes this classic grape to the next level, transforming it into a sparkling wine that’s bright, lively, and elegant.
Aromas of green apple, citrus blossom, and white peach are complemented by delicate hints of almond and brioche. The fine bubbles and crisp, refreshing palate make it an ideal pairing for seafood, light salads, or a sophisticated plate of oysters.
This sparkling wine offers a delightful expression of Cortese’s natural elegance. Versatile and delicious, it’s perfect for any celebration or as a fresh alternative to more mass-produced sparkling styles.
2020 Monzio Compagnoni, Satèn, Franciacorta, Italy
100% Chardonnay
Franciacorta may not be as well-known as Prosecco when it comes to Italian sparkling wines, but this Italian sparkler is heads and shoulders in quality above the more famous mass-produced Proseccos! Made from the same grapes and in the same quality-driven method as Champagne, Satèn (their term for Blanc de Blanc) is known for its creamier texture and softer bubbles. Monzio Compagnoni’s version hits all the right notes for Champagne lovers but at a more accessible price point.
Creamy and refined, with notes of golden apple, pear, citrus, and toasted almond. This bubbly is a natural with seafood dishes, young cheeses, or simply enjoyed as an aperitif. One of our favorite sparkling picks for any occasion!
Castellroig, Corpinnat Brut Reserva Rosat, Spain
Garnatxa, Trepat, Xarel-lo
Corpinnat, a new designation and a rising star within Spain’s sparkling wine world, represents a commitment to quality and tradition. Unlike standard Cava, Corpinnat producers focus on organic viticulture and extended aging for wines of higher quality and character. Castellroig is one of its champions. Their Brut Reserva Rosat takes the vibrant fruitiness of Trepat and Garnacha and balances it with time-honored winemaking methods. With extended aging and organic practices, this wine is an elevated approach to sparkling rosé, versatile for both festive occasions and food pairings.
Wild strawberries, red currants, and rose petals shine through, with a touch of citrus zest and almond. Fresh, lively, and versatile, this rosé pairs beautifully with tapas, cured meats, or salmon dishes. A crowd-pleaser!
2017 Tselepos, “Amalia” Brut, Mantinia, Greece
100% Moschofilero
This vintage sparkling wine from Greece is a hidden gem for bubbly lovers looking to explore beyond the classics. Moschofilero is a highly aromatic grape native to Greece, and in Mantinia, it thrives at high altitudes. Tselepos highlights this unique variety in their “Amalia” Vintage Brut, using traditional sparkling wine methods to craft a wine with bright aromas and lively acidity. A standout choice for sparkling wine explorers, this wine brings Greek winemaking into the spotlight. With its floral and citrusy character, this wine is both refreshing and refined.
White flowers, jasmine, and lemon zest are complemented by green apple and honeysuckle. Its structured, creamy mousse makes it a perfect pairing with Mediterranean dishes like grilled octopus, fresh salads, or lemony chicken. A unique sparkling wine that’s sure to surprise and delight.
Bailly Lapierre, Brut Reserve, Crémant de Bourgogne, France
Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gamay, Aligoté
Crémant is a term for sparkling wines from France made outside the Champagne region, using the same traditional method of secondary fermentation in the bottle. Bailly, a village in Burgundy, is the birthplace of the AOC Crémant de Bourgogne. Since 1972, Bailly Lapierre has crafted these sparkling wines in an underground quarry, where the unique natural conditions provide the perfect environment for aging. Using hand-harvested grapes from Burgundy’s noble varieties, the wines are vinified and matured patiently in the bottle.
This Crémant is poised, polished, and beautifully balanced. White peach, crisp apple, and citrus mingle with subtle notes of brioche and almond. Fine bubbles and a refreshing finish make it a wine for every occasion.
Whether you’re pairing it with creamy cheeses, shrimp cocktail, or quiche, this Crémant is endlessly versatile. It’s a wonderful introduction to France’s sparkling wine styles beyond Champagne—and a bottle that’s sure to delight any sparkling wine lover.
Patrice Colin, Perles Grises Pét Nat Brut, Pineau d'Aunis, Coteaux du Vendomois, France
100% Pineau D’Aunis
Pétillant Naturel (Pét Nat) is the original method of sparkling winemaking, crafted with minimal intervention by bottling the wine before fermentation is complete to create natural bubbles.
Patrice Colin, an 8th-generation vigneron, produces Perles Grises from his old-vine, organic vineyards in the Coteaux du Vendômois, located in the northernmost reaches of the Loire Valley. This Pét Nat is a testament to the Colin family’s centuries of expertise and their commitment to approachable, high-quality winemaking.
Light and refreshing at just 11.3% alcohol, this wine captures the essence of the rare Pineau d’Aunis grape with its ripe and savory red cherry flavors, wild herbs, and a touch of spice. The lively bubbles and dry, crisp finish make it a favorite for casual gatherings and adventurous palates alike.
A true crowd-pleaser, Perles Grises is perfect with charcuterie, roast chicken, or lightly spiced dishes. We’ve yet to meet a person who hasn’t fallen head-over-heels for its charm. So fresh, so delicious, and so much fun!
